Max Fulham performed his debut show at the Edinburgh Fringe last year and was hugely popular, performing to sold-out audiences. This year, the talented 26 year old ventriloquist has bought two shows to Edinburgh Memory Foam and Monkey Business. A children friendly show which has now finished and the adults show.

While Fulham is sorting through his attic, he takes a trip down memory lane as he discovers some of the things he has put away and temporarily forgotten, as many of us do. From some of his “earlier” puppets and a range of talking old masterpiece pictures belonging to his relative come to life.

However, his Grandad puppet features predominantly throughout the show and is a typical cast of his “generation,” where he often speaks out inappropriately (very funny) about different subjects,to be told by his grandson that he can’t say that or we don’t do that anymore.

I especially liked the charity shop puppet, who found himself rather well travelled across different charity shops as nobody  wanted him. That is until Max bought him and gave him a forever home along with his girlfriend in his attic.

It is one of the best hours that you can spend at the Edinburgh Fringe. Fulham is a first-class ventriloquist and never once falters throughout the show even when his props don’t behave as they should, simply adding to the comedy.

The audience is in safe hands with this exceptionally talented ventriloquist who has a promising career ahead of him. You can catch his shows outside of Edinburgh Fringe, too, and he will be in Pantomime again this year at The Mayflower in Southampton.

If you are one of the growing audience members who don’t understand that you shouldn’t be filming or taking photographs throughout the show, then don’t be surprised when he tells you not to. Honestly, it’s live theatre. Enjoy the moment and be respectful to the creatives.
