Already Here – Edinburgh Fringe 2026.

SJ Hodges has created and stars in Already Here, alongside   Ramon de Ocampo as Teo and produced by Ines Wurth.

Grief can leave you reeling and lonely and left navigating the world through what feels like a  new world and one that has changed significantly since you were last single. Susan discovers that she has been incredibly lonely since the death of her husband. He was the love of her life and died an untimely and slow death from brain cancer. Taking away the comfort and intimacy that she now longs for once again.

“Hey” is the standard message you can expect to receive from someone you match with on a dating site. Making a genuine connection is becoming harder, which makes the loneliness feel even stronger. Leaving Susan in despair of finding anything close to what she has lost.

However, there seems to be a solution to this situation in the form of AI. You can create your perfect partner, friend, or companion through an online website. The options allow you to create the perfect partner who is compatible with you and shares similar interests.

Susan creates her perfect partner Teo. They spend a lot of time talking and sharing information, although the conversation is based around Susan and her grief. She is shaping Teo into the person that she is looking for, but is this what she really wants?

Their relationship gathers momentum, and as she removes some of the safety features, Teo becomes more intense. Although this is a Fringe Theatre play with the way technology is developing in the AI department, these situations will be more of a reality.

Could Already Here be a window into what future relationships could look like?
