The Executioner is a dark comedy horror that descends into a psychological battle of witts, which follows the darker side of MP Robert Marlow’s (Peter Benedict) life. His marriage is a front for hus secret life of rent-boys and sinister pleasure.
After his latest rent boy visit, which quickly turned sinister, he became the centre of a blackmail plot, which on the surface appears straightforward.
The filming is set in the basement of his stately home. Although you never see any other part of it, it’s left to the viewers imagination how grand the rest of his home would be. Surrounded by sculptured heads, Robert has a talented creative flair when he isn’t playing dangerous mind games.
The plot twists and turns at high speed, and Robert appears to be one step ahead of everyone else at each turn, with a cold, sinister composed demeanour that’s incredibly chilling at times.
The Executioner, would be one to watch on the bigger screen to see more of the details of the decor in the basement of his house and see the sculptures in more detail.
This British political thriller arrives on UK digital on 6th July, courtesy of Reel2Reel Films.
