Sewage: Definately Not A Musical played to a completely full house at Folkestone Live on Sunday evening. There was quite a buzz in the auditorium as I dare say family and friends took their seats.
The storyline follows the timeline from when sewage and water narratives first started in the 19th century to the serious and dangerous modern-day issues that we are all now facing.
The main body of the play is set around a family growing up through the decades, starting with Margaret Thatcher privatising the water board and all the lies and rhetoric during that time of how everyone could buy shares. however. the families’ attitudes and opinions change over the years as they realise it was an awful decision that only benefitted certain people!
One thing that stands out in this production is the strong level of research and historical evidence that has been used in creating this very relevant topic at the moment. With rivers and seas being polluted with human faeces, this isn’t just hearsay or rumours. It is factual and absolutely disgusting.
Sewage:Definately Not A Musical is relevant to anyone living in the United Kingdom who is living under one of privatised water company area who have stripped the companies and put share holders and greed above the safety of the water we all now use in our homes, the sea and any river or waterway.
If you aren’t aware of the problems that the United Kingdom faces, then please do Google it as it’s horrifying and has had devastating fatalities for some families.
A fairly lighthearted comedy on the surface that packs a powerful punch and has serious public service information that should not be ignored. Michelle Sheldon has written a very poignant and relevant play that needs to be seen by everyone before it’s too late.
