Shelf: The Kids Show 2-The Power of Two.  I certainly questioned why this comedy double act has not come onto my radar until now as there’s not many comedy acts that I haven’t heard of or about. I was certainly in for an hours comedy treat.

Rachel Waykeys Dowie and Ruby Clyde formed in 2015 and have been on the comedy circuit since then. They have switched between different adult comedy shows and writing comedy. They are  also scriptwriters for The Amazing World of Gumball (Cartoon Networt/Hanna-Barbera), and nowadays, they are predominantly  performing children’s comedy shows.

Their show at Folkestone Live was almost a full house. The vast majority of the children in the auditorium were completely invested in the show and joined in throughout with calling out when asked to, although as expected, they didn’t wait to be invited to speak.

Rachel and Ruby have been friends for a long time, and their close friendship comes across on the stage. Some of the sketches performed require an element of trust in each other, and they never let one another down. Their onstage chemistry remains the same once they are off stage and meeting their fans at the book signing table afterwards.

Shelf is a brilliant charasmatic comedy duo whose delivery timings are impeccable . Some of their sketches are new (to me), and their show is a perfect example of how a comedy duo should be on and off stage. Plus, the young audience was completely invested throughout the performance.

If I get another opportunity, I would definitely try to catch another one of their shows and would highly recommend them if you have primary school aged children who have probably read one of their books at some point.
