Your Choice Amanda Royce was written and performed by Rachel Twigg. It’s a fast-paced solo show that’s a roller coaster of emotions with a few revelations along the way.
This is a show that the audience participation is required throughout the show. Nothing embarrassing or awkward. You’re in Coulsdon, and Amanda Royce is running for the position of Mayor and desperately wants your votes.
As with many politians Royce believes on the outside she is there for everyone and has some outrageous ideas about how she will make changes to help the people in her community no matter what they status is, sexual preferences are or age. She knows you all and wants to help, or so she says!
Her husband Kevin, who we might know apparently from his minor roles on the television, should be along at any time as he promised to support her! As we discover later on, he is somewhat disposed of elsewhere. No star gazing today.
Royce is described as a “bold, brash and brazen character,” and there’s no mistaking that description during her pitch. However, as with all these characters, there’s far more going on beneath the surface.
Watch out for the local pervert! Let’s face it. Most places have at least one.
If you are looking for something a bit different at the Edinburgh Fringe this year and want to be entertained and have a laugh, then this is a show to catch. Twigg is funny and engaging and has captured the absurd tactics that those in power use to try and get your support.
