Final Queen stars Grace Lightning (Harrison Sweeney), who is a well renowned cabaret and circus performer. The production takes the audience on a road trip from Sydney to Alice Springs after she gets a call from her agent that Kylie Minogue has requested that she should support her on tour!
Grace decides to take two of her sassy sisters with her Jazz Demon and Kelly Kincoran, of which Grace plays both of these characters, too.
The road trip takes place through the outback of Australia and many of the audience will spot that it has a lot of similarities with the 1994 hit film Priscilla Queen of the Desert but in this case it’s in a car rather than a bus.
Imagine the Texas Chainsaw Massacre mixed in for good measure as the trio make their way through the outback. During their trip, the three sisters also encounter a variety of killer wildlife alongside a chainsaw wielding bush ranger. After all, they are in Australia with some of the world’s most deadliest animals.
The performance is fast moving, and the acrobatics Grace performs shows the audience how skilled and talented she is with hula hoops and circus skills. Blood-soaked ones at that.
At times, it was a little difficult to hear what Grace was saying, and a microphone may have helped. Although I appreciate all the blood used on stage, this might not be practical.
