Believe:The Cher Songbook-Theatre Royal Winchester.

Prepare to take a journey through Cher’s massive seven-decade career. From the early days when she worked alongside her husband at the time Sonny, to her duo with the late rock legend Meat loaf to the floor filling iconic song Believe.

Charlotte, who performs as Cher, pays a fitting  tribute in her performance to the iconic singer and actor Cher in the musical production of Believe :The Cher Songbook. With over ten costume changes and seven decades to cover, it’s no mean feat being Cher.

You realise just how much music influence Cher has had over the decades and her incredible ability to change direction and move with the times. Along with her amazing outfits. I especially liked the costume worn during the Burlesque era of Cher.

Believe:The Cher Songbook returns after a two year break. There were a few signs that they had taken a break as some things throughout the performance felt a bit slower than a production that had been tried and tested and regularly touring. That didn’t deflect the enjoyment of the evening’s musical treat.

A special has to go to the talented Emily Cooper who sang and plays a wide range of instruments throughout the performance. From the flute to the saxophone. An incredibly talented musician who was rather hidden at the back of the stage, although there wasn’t anywhere she could have stood.
