Queendoms is only performing at the Edinburgh Fringe this year for a few dates towards the end of August. Find out below why this should be on your watch list if you are going during those dates.
What’s your show called and about?
Queendoms is a musical journey through the archaic feminine cults that followed the primordial one of the Great Mother. The cult of the Goddess has crossed all existing civilizations: a single essence that changes shape, to the rhythm of sacred drums.
What is the history of your show?
Agadez composed the album Queendoms with the intention to induce “trance”, starting with voice and frame drums. Guitar legend Antonio Forcione plays the guitar as a shaman uses his drum, both in composition and interpretation. Queendoms Unplugged is the fruit of their encounter. Their live performances are conceived as rituals.
Has it been performed anywhere else in the world before bringing it to Edinburgh? It’s been performed once in Rome.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?
To take it on tour.
Is it your first time at the Edinburgh Fringe?
First time for Agadez, while Antonio Forcione has participated at EdFringe 24 times before!
Do you have any “good luck” rituals you undertake before performing?
Invoking the goddesses we sing about / for / to!
How have you found booking accommodation?
Simple but expensive.
