“BAFTA-winning provocateur Alison Jackson brings her wild celebrity lookalike competition and behind-the-scenes exposé Faking Famous to Edinburgh Fringe”. I have caught up with Alison Jackson to find out more about her show coming to the Edinburgh Fringe.
What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?
Alison Jackson’s Faking Famous: You Can Be a Celebrity Too.
How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?
I’ve done it a while back, I can’t remember exactly but this is my first show in a while!
How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?
I thrive in it! It’s where the real theatre begins. The Fringe feels like a hyperreal version of life—utterly chaotic, endlessly fascinating and I feel completely at home in that. There’s a constant sense of performance happening everywhere: on the street, in queues, even in the loos. It’s all part of the spectacle.
What sort of shows will see if you have time?
I’ll be working most of the time — when you’re performing and producing, every hour is spoken for. But if I do manage to escape the chaos, I’d love to catch something completely different from my own world.
Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so which has been your favourite so far?
I’ve done Soho Theatre, to mention a few.
Any advice to newbies about flyering?
Flyering at the Fringe is part art, part endurance sport. My advice? Be bold but not pushy — people are here to enjoy themselves, not be chased down. Find your own rhythm and voice; authenticity cuts through the noise far more than a generic flyer. And remember, a genuine smile and a quick, intriguing line can work wonders.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?
Stay tuned…
