Dan Jones brings love and cheese (eating variety) to the stage at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 with his debut show This Seems Ambitious. Waiting at the back of the room gaging his audience as they arrive to see what the energy levels are like. We were very “low” apparently although this changed by the end to “high”.

Greeting many of the rows with handshakes and hellos it breaks the ice and puts the audience at ease. I overheard someone say “I can see why it says audience participation outside”.

Basing a comedy show around love and relationships is a common theme for comedians. However, Dan’s story crosses continents, Tinder, oceans and a battle with paperwork through the immigration office. What a range of materials in this storyline with potential comedy gold.

An aspiring Fat Boy Slim fan who would love to have the adoring fans that Slim has gained over the years. Their main similarities stem from both living in Brighton and loving music, a solid foundation to start from.

The house (well cellar) in the Pleasance was full and there was a lot of laughter throughout the performance. There’s also a lesson in cheese rolling. I can see Dan going far on the comedy circuit as he grows in confidence. Look out for his tour dates coming soon.
