Three ladies, three different life stories and experiences in Violets and Vinegar an amusing, touching, and taste of what it’s like to be a woman through a touching trilogy of monologues.
The Trilogy begins with a married lady with three children. Her husband Gordon is a good man! He likes golf and works long hours, especially after her life-changing cancer operation and a decline in her sex life.
Next, we have the younger two ladies jetting off the Majorca for sun, sand and alcohol. Nothing goes to plan and the accommodation leaves a lot to be desired. Young and fancy-free! Majorca is their oyster and the men are ten a penny.
Finally we meet a school teacher whose friend Maureen is having marriage difficulties in the bedroom department. She attempts to understand and fails miserably as she’s never had a boyfriend. She becomes a lady on a mission. What could possibly go wrong?
Each of the ladies gives superb believable performances. None of them are looking for sympathy or understanding it’s simply the way their lives have panned out. The script is tight and perfectly delivered.
A great show choice to start your afternoon at the Fringe.
