Katherine Bourne Taylor brings Grown Up Orphan Annie to the Edinburgh Fringe 2023. Complete with iconic red hair and a bright red dress worn by the child star of the 1982 hit film Annie starring Aileen Quinn there’s no mistaking the “grown-up Annie” as she bursts onto the stage.
Bourne Taylor is locked into a world of disbelief as the young Annue has never properly matured. Continuing to search for somewhere to fit in and “hang” with friends, even if it’s the audience she has just met. Unable to “belt out” some of the famous songs from the musical due to copyrights she attempts to adapt them and gives up.
Bringing back the deceased adopted father Mr Warbucks on a hard drive offers a rather surreal twist to Annie’s search to combat loneliness. Even in the afterlife he is busy making other plans and hasn’t the time for her.
It’s a sad yet familiar story of how child stars can struggle as they get older to know who and what they are. Surrounded by adults who “cash in” on them and then leave them lost and insecure. Tied up in a mass of copyrights and restrictions.
It’s a production at home on a Fringe Festival platform where afternoon audiences want to laugh and relax. Who knows maybe they can even make a new friend to hang with.

Looking back at my original biography section on here I can see how far my writing life has gone. With two Edinburgh Fringe seasons behind me and a huge variety of Theatres visited things have grown beyond my wildest dreams.
I now write for my own blog, London Theatre Reviews and Broadway Baby. On top of this I am an Off West End Senior Assessor and throughout lockdown helped turn the Oncomm into a success and watched Scenesaver become a huge success. Recently I was on the panel to vote for Scenesaver production awards. It has been an amazing journey and I am looking forward to the Theatres reopening next week (from 17th May 2021). My original introduction is underneath as a reminder to myself of just how far I have come. Long may it continue.

I am an English graduate who loves the arts. However, I do battle with dyslexia and when I make any errors it is not deliberate. I am a fourty something, mother of 4 who wants to try my hand at writing reviews. All blogged reviews are my personal opinions. Any event blogged I will have personally attended.
