The evening begins with the entire evening’s guests arriving at the Vaults venue from Launceston Street. The walls are adorned with floor-to-ceiling cloth curtains depicting the gardens from the original Pride and Prejudice grounds of Pemberley.
Once inside the bar is open and the entertainment begins by hosting a catwalk style event with two female members of the evenings guest who might be eligible for the bachelor Mr. Darcy there’s nothing distasteful about this and the guests are asked to give permission first.

Each ticket is valid for four sections inside the venue. In all honesty, it doesn’t particularly matter where you are in the theatre space you can see the majority of the proceedings, it’s just the comfort of the seat that makes the biggest difference.
Well, the production of Pride and Prejudice isn’t something I have seen before. The company’s edited version is much slicker and to the point than the original work. Personally, I find these versions better as it’s usually only the “good parts” that many want to hear.
Five actors playing twenty roles suggests a full-on evening’s entertainment and you wouldn’t be wrong for thinking that. They dash up and down the runway-style stage reenacting the famous love story.
Exceptionally talented Emma Andreatta is the lead in the plot line as Mrs Bennett, who’s desperate to marry off her five daughters and save the family from embarrassment. Our heroine Elizabeth Bennet is played by Brigitte Freeme whose outspoken behaviour strongly concerns her Mother and she simply will not just agree to be married to anyone.

Tim Walker predominantly plays the heartthrob Mr Darcy who is incredibly private and never speaks of how he generously helps others. Andrew Macmillan takes several different roles throughout the performance and brings to life the very creepy character Mr Collins who nowadays many families would keep their children away from. The final cast member Monique Sallé plays amongst other roles the younger naive sister Jane Bennett.
Throughout the performance, there’s a bar service running with drinks served to your table. It hasn’t been renamed “Plied” for no reason and drinking to the good health of Elizabeth and Mr Darcy is actively encouraged.
The Vaults is an excellent space for the hugely energetic production of Plied and Prejudice. The cast of five does not stop once throughout. An entertaining and humorous adaptation of an English Classic by Jane Austen.
