Performing to pretty much a full house Jenny Eclair needs no introduction to her audience. From her books, stand-up, Edinburgh Fringe shows, Loose Women and her turn in the jungle in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! Watching her career span across the decades through the comedy show you realise how varied her career has been.
Eclair addresses the hurdles and changes women face as they go through each decade with honesty and comedy. Let’s face it anyone who has to deal with periods and the menopause needs a sense of humour as your body changes just when you think you can predict what will happen next.
If you are offended by the “f” word then this show is not for you, personally, I embrace the honesty of Eclair in showing the versatility and many uses the word has in everyday life. As a woman of a certain age, it’s definitely a well-used expression and comes in handy for every situation we find ourselves in.
There are some touching family memories running throughout the show. From her Mum and Dad’s early married life, her father’s career as a spy is touched upon as Eclair points out she didn’t sign “the secrets act” and then her gorgeous Grandson whom she had a hand in. If you want to know more then I can wholeheartedly recommend going to see her on tour.
The Tour also encompasses a book tour promotion at the same time although the show focuses on her incredible career where despite the odds Eclair has worked hard to become the household name she now is. There’s no hard sell after the show just a recommendation that if you’re interested in buying a copy it’s available in all the usual outlets.
