The Telepath and the Conjuror is a magic show performed by husband and wife team Mark and Emily. I don’t know how they performed what they did and how their sleight-of-hand tricks worked and in all honesty I don’t want to.
One part of the show they ask for audience members to put items onto a tray. Mark handles the objects and sends the image to Emily. Objects the cynical side of me says they have a code or something that makes it appear like magic.
However, one item was my passport. I can guarantee i don’t know them and have never met them. Emily guessed my full name and wrote out my date of birth. I don’t have any answers but I was gobsmacked with what I saw happen on stage.
The Oberons are classy, charismatic and excellent performers. After many years working on Cruise Liners separately they now perform together.
The younger members of the audience were blown away by the performance and were actively engaged with the couple throughout. There was such a positive atmosphere in the auditorium.
Sometimes you want a show at the Edinburgh Fringe that entertains you and lets you just be in the moment with them. The Telepath and the Conjurer was one of a handful of shows during the Edinburgh Fringe this year that managed to do that for me.
If The Oberons return next year that I can highly recommend checking out their show and experiencing their magic craftsmanship for yourself.
