Hynotist Matt Hale-Edinburgh Fringe 2025.

Hypnotist Matt Hale brings back a 1990s-style dance party to the stage for the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe. He began the show dressed as Liam Gallagher singing along to Wonderwall by Oasis who have received many mentions in shows this year due to the concerts being at Murrayfield Stadium during the Fringe.

However, Hale soon shifts the mood in the room and plays more upbeat music from Kylie, Vengaboys and other hits from the 1990s. Hale uses this to get the audience warmed up and join in with him. It relaxes the audience at first before he opens the floor and invites people who want to try to be hypnotised to join him.

There’s absolutely no pressure on the audience to join Hale on stage and join in with the show to be hypnotised. Everyone who went up was willing to join in and the only requirement is to be over 18. A couple of audience members didn’t “go under” properly and were let back into the audience.

The remaining participants on stage were entertaining. Hale doesn’t ask anyone to do anything inappropriate or humiliating. It’s about having a party and enjoying the atmosphere and most importantly feeling safe in his hands if you’re on the stage.

The front of house is led by Hale’s wife Kathryn Preston who shares his energy and sense of fun. They are a powerhouse of energy to keep the atmosphere going for sixty minutes.

After a heavy week at the Edinburgh Fringe Matt Hale was just what I needed to lift my spirits back up and have a really good laugh.
