Holly Spillar: Tall Child-Edinburgh Fringe 2025.

Holly Spillar returns to the Edinburgh Fringe for 2025 with Tall Child. Armed with a microphone and loop pedal she commands the empty stage with an abundance of charisma and humour.

Starting the show with a high-level disclaimer Spillar reiterates that the show has no connection to anyone you might know, to anyone you might know and anyone you might know. But if you do know them keep it to yourself!

Spillar has an extraordinary theatrical delivery to her comedy set. With a keen observation of the world around her and growing up in a single-family household, she shares snippets of the poverty she witnessed. I am sure she has plenty more stories left to share with her audiences.

She has a vast range of songs for everyone including her rich Waitrose Essential friends that she doesn’t want to leave out or offend, possibly! They don’t know how easy they have it.

There’s never a sense of self-pity or woe-is-me coming through in Spillar’s work. Dealing with the pain and discomfort of Scoliosis is touched upon briefly. All good comedy comes from lived experiences.

She makes it clear at the end of the set that she wants to connect and support those who have been through similar situations and recommends some of their shows at the end. Which for me is the true spirit of the Fringe.
