What happens when a couple feel like they are trapped inside a relationship TANKED explores the relationship ups and downs through an Angel Fish couple Coral and Gil. Who has reached a crisis point in their relationship!
Maddie Maycock takes on the role of Gil, a male fish who finds the glare of the cameras rather bewildering. While Isaac Morris plays the on-edge wife Coral who wants the tank to look perfect for their visitors and feels that Gil doesn’t want to be with her anymore.
The clown-style physical comedy in the role of the Angel fish couple offers a “fishbowl” fly on the wall insight into modern-day relationships, where boredom and the monotonous daily routines can become desructive and leave one or the other partner feeling unappreciated and unloved.
Pay close attention to Maycock‘s facial expressions they speak a thousand words and pick out the absurdity in Gil’s behaviour, especially when she starts hoovering. Yes, you heard that correctly, hoovering in a tank, just let that sink in!
Gil serves breakfast one morning, and I am not to give away spoilers. However, I haven’t laughed so much in ages it has the same comedy value as The Two Ronnie’s comedy sketch Four Candles.
This is a one to try and “catch” before the Edinburgh Fringe finishes, although I know there’s very few performances left. I will watch with interest to see what both actors go on to do next. They both have huge potential.
