The music and storytelling by Case Watson in Welcome to the End of the World offers a captivating performance explaining the spread of misinformation in the media and how “we” are responsible for all the climate changes taking place! I agree with Watson that the big corporations are responsible for most of it.
During covid Watson developed a relationship she had never met or had met since. Their friendship consisted of a wave with no other expectations. Just a simple human connection to stay in the present and get through an unprecedented time in history.
Sometimes in the strangest diversity and times of extremely fractured situations, human beings find themselves craving for “normal.”
Welcome to the End of the World is a strong and thoroughly researched performance. When humans face the worst situations, many will pull together and build a supportive network to help with food, warmth and shelter. Something the media rarely wants to publish as it doesn’t sell papers!
The performance explores ideas like revolutionary gardening, community building and antifascism. When people come together amazing things can be transformed.
Watson is a highly accomplished musician and has the most mesmerising voice. Bringing something different to the Edinburgh Fringe is always a challenge. From all the productions I have watched and seen advertised, there’s nothing else quite like this at the 2025 Fringe.
