Stuart Laws is Stuck billed as a “comedy-murder-mystery (with puffins)” well one puffin model and comedian Kate Hammer on stage with Laws who plays the additional characters including a puffin eating fish, which is hilarious.

Usually at the Fringe by day two or three you have seen one or two quirky shows. However, this year Stuart Laws is Stuck is my first one and probably not my last. In all honesty, I have no real idea what was going on!

However, the diversion of Laws being on an Island surrounded by puffins and trying to solve a murder when the only witnesses are other puffins is quite a challenge and the chance of solving the murder is slim. Even with his new friend Puffin performed by Hammer.

My interpretation of the show is more about representing the feelings of being different in a world where everyone else appears to have their lives together and know what they are meant to be doing. But don’t take my word for it though spend an hour in Laws company and decide for yourself!

It’s funny and entertaining and a perfect show for just being able to laugh and escape the bustle of the busy Edinburgh Fringe. Laws is likeable and talented as to write something this off the wall takes skill and confidence, expect the unexpected.
