SH*T SHOW-Edinburgh Fringe 2025.

Despite what the title suggests Sh*t Show isn’t a sh*t show. It’s a thought-provoking one-woman show where Jessica (Kathryn Marper) is waiting to hear her name called by the doctor She is nervous and talking incessantly to take her mind off why she is there.

The exact reason for the appointment becomes clear as the story develops. Jessica is facing a big decision and one which will have a lasting impact whichever she decides to go.

During the performance, Jessica has a lot of interaction with her therapist whom the audience only hears and gets a sense of what she looks like from Jessica’s description of her. Especially when Jessica becomes frustrated and lets rip at her.

The outburst in my opinion is justified as the therapist appears to be using bad practice techniques and is all about how much she can charge Jessica. I was surprised she wasn’t struck off and even more surprised Jessica stuck with her.

SH*T SHOW! is “billed darkly comic exploration” There are comedy elements but it is tackling a very dark place that only a woman could find herself dealing with.

SH*T SHOW is part of the Free Fringe Festival and is performing in a new venue based above a busy Restaurant called Carbon in Cowgate where the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
