God is Dead and I Killed Him-Edinburgh Fringe 2025.

God is Dead, and I killed Him. It’s quite a claim to make even for an Edinburgh Fringe show where titles can shock and surprise audiences. However, once you understand where the claim originates from, it’s not quite that shocking.

Callum Patrick Hughes was once a slightly nervous first-time performer at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2023 when he made his debut, he returned in 2024 and for 2025 brings his new show to the Fringe. Hughes has grown in confidence over the past three years and has opened up about his demons and addictions that have shaped his journey along the way.

God is Dead and I Killed Him is the most polished and confident production so far. Hughes still has his guitar and tells his verbatim family based through the spoken word and singing, he is one of the most natural and moving storytellers that I have seen.

Hughes talks more about his Grandmother in this production and her claims about being a witch that he has inherited apparently although he doesn’t believe in ghosts and witches so he can’t possibly be one, can he? Although he explains he has seen things that might confirm her claims. This is quickly dismissed and he proposes that these can be explained by physics! Can’t they?

There’s laughter, love and some moments of deep soul-searching reflection during the performance. All controlled with care and gentle guidance by Hughes. Maybe his Grandmother was correct about his ability, the evidence is all presented, laid out before you, and left for you to decide as Hughes doesn’t confirm either way what he truly believes in.
