If you’re looking to be shocked, entertained, and perhaps have any personal problems sorted out, then look no further than the brash and outspoken drag artist Aunty Ginger in Ginger’s Problem Area at Assembly Studio 4 in George Square at 10.40 pm during the Edinburgh Fringe.
The performance is split between filmed snippets on the street where Aunty Ginger is trying to “help” people with biscuits and advice which is necessarily well received, along with comedy and audience participation. Although only with “consent,” as Aunty Ginger doesn’t want to get into any trouble!

I would be interested to hear what the audience members Mum said after she received her voice note left to her by Aunty Ginger. Tom, the audience member, was worried about her string of broken relationships and the sort of men she attracted. I will leave the advice given to her in the voice note to the imagination. All I can say is Tom will have some explaining to do when he sobers up.
Every show will be slightly different as the audience participation with “their problems” will be different. However, I don’t think Aunty Ginger ought to apply to the United Nations in the peace department just yet.
Aunty Ginger isn’t for the easily offended or the faint-hearted and that’s one of the reasons I enjoyed it. Why not bring your problems along and let her attempt to help or perhaps hinder either way it’s all in the name of entertainment, you might even get a custard cream.
