Parky Players return to the Edinburgh Fringe for 2025 with an informative production accompanied by a film where many of the cast from Parky Players talk about the recognition and confidence performing on the stage gives them.
Janet Shipton starts the show by discussing how and when she was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s Condition. Janet describes how the condition impacted her life then and what has happened since then.
Last year Parky Players bought their James Bond themed show called Shaken Not Stirred to Edinburgh, which was good and they all appeared to be enjoying themselves.
However, due to the lack of funding available this year, they couldn’t afford to bring a cast up this year and chose to do something different to hopefully bring in audiences to share their experiences and raise awareness about Parkinson’s.
Once the film has finished Janet is joined on stage by two other members of the team who invite the audience to ask any questions and have an open and honest discussion about the debilitating and life-changing condition that doesn’t get the much-needed publicity it deserves to inform people of the symptoms and the range of medications that they require just to be upright in the morning.
“Parky Players was founded in 2020, first performing at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022.”
