Jamie D’Souza’s is returning with a brand-new show to the Edinburgh Fringe this year. I have caught up with him ahead of the festival which starts next Thursday, 31st July 2025.
When were you last performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?
I did a work in progress all last year at the fringe, but my last full hour show with all the bells and whistles was in 2022.
What was the name of your previous show?
The last show I did was a split bill show called Good Girls with my friend and amazing comic Chelsea Birkby. It was meant to be a chance for us to work on new material, but ended up being a late night very drunken crowd control exercise. Still lots of fun though!
How long has your current show been running for?
I did a WIP of it last year, but it’s changed a lot. So, I guess it’s been running for 0 years and 0 months officially, but don’t let that put you off though, I promise it’s not rubbish.
Do you have any “good luck” rituals you undertake before performing?
Before every show I recite the speech from the ‘Sad Little Life Come Done With Me Man’ into the mirror, it brings me to tears every time without fail, and ultimately makes gigging a much harder experience, but I enjoy the challenge.
How have you found booking accommodation this year?
An absolute nightmare, accommodation prices have almost tripled in the space of five years. It’s completely unsustainable for acts, and it is pricing out so many comedians from the fringe and is incredibly elitist and classist.
What three pieces of advice would you give to first-timers going to the Fringe?
Have a rich mum, have a rich dad, go to a private school. (I’ve not followed any of my own advice here)
What are you plans after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?
Quit comedy, start a cult and scream into the void.

“Please come, if he sees this my rent is getting hiked. Oh, it’s also about honesty, bulimia, Indian food.”
