Aideen McQueen-Edinburgh Fringe 2025-Part of July Challenge.

Irish-born Audeen McQueen brings her show to the Edinburgh Fringe this year. I have caught up with Aideen before the festival begins.

Is this your first time at Edinburgh Fringe?

No, I’ve been to the fringe doing all sorts lots of times “Best of Irish” and “best of fest” comedy shows I did a work in progress of this play last year so now it’s back and better than ever!

How long have you been preparing your show for Edinburgh?

In a way for years because it’s autobiographical – it’s the wallpaper in my brain but I started to write it after a late. Night conversation with my sister two years ago we both brought our lives to it

What is your motivation to perform there?

I love the fringe I’ll get to see other amazing acts while I’m here so it won’t feel lonely you meet so many comics and. Performers, it’s like a summer camp for adults with more alcohol and STDs!!!

What have you done to prepare for the Edinburgh Fringe, emotionally and physically?

I don’t drink anymore thanks god because I’d made a show of myself at previous fringes even getting pulled over by the police for indecent exposure
My prep now will be previewing and staying in

Have you had any advice from others who have performed at the Fringe?

Don’t take stuff personally and stay in your lane don’t compare yourself to others nothing that hasn’t been printed on a tea towel or written over a meme of a woman facing a mountain

Have you visited Scotland or Edinburgh before?

I love Scotland my grandmother was from Motherwell – Every Irish person loved Scotland it’s the only place in the world where we look tanned and sober

How have you found booking accommodation?

This is tough I had this booked almost a year ago It’s a room in a house on the Cowgate with 6 mates It’s expensive even though the house is so small  you could hoover it all from one socket

What plans do you have for your show after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?

I’m going to go to Spain with some non-drinking friends for sober karaoke – yes any sediment of cool left between my toes is now officially towelled off!
