Bad Clowns:Long Live the King!

Reviewing from a filmed version of Long Live the King by Bad Clowns from their filmed performance at the Studio New Wimbledon Theatre.

Prince Christian, Councillor Sam and Slop Boy John are each making their claims to be the next king after the death of the previous one. Each pitch to their Lords and Ladies spoiler alert (The Audience). Yes, you the audience have the power to choose (or do you).

The cast of three is enthusiastic and energetic, and each one is “slightly” convincing about their right to rule claims.

Bring on the Pantomime horse, historical clichés, audience participation, and a game show and you have the perfect set of ingredients to crown the next king. Possibly better than our current method!

The downside to reviewing from a filmed version of any performance is the energy you pick up when watching live Theatre, especially comedy and this proves to be entertaining and well worth seeing live.

The Edinburgh Fringe thrives on a diverse mix of shows and Long Live the King is an hour of comedy that engages and entertains. A perfect comedy mix for the Fringe. Plus with audience participation, every show will be slightly different.

Four Stars.

                    ……………..

Devised and performed by Bad Clowns, a comedy group run by John Bond, Christian Dart and Sam Walls.

Brief synopsis:

The king is dead!

There are three viable candidates to be his successor – however, they can only ascend the throne with the support of the local lords and ladies (the audience).
