Barbara Fernandez-Edinburgh Fringe 2025-Part of July Challenge.

Barbara Fernandez and I had the pleasure of meeting last year during her first time performing at the Edinburgh Fringe. She returns for 2025 and I have caught up with her before she heads off to start the Festival run.

When were last performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?

I last performed at Edinburgh Fringe in 2024.

What was the name of your previous show?

Singing, Sagging and Shagging – which is returning to this year’s Fringe with some new songs.
How long has your current show been running?

My current show has been running for 2 years now.

Do you have any “good luck” rituals you undertake before performing?

The main thing I do before performing is focus on loving the audience. That might sound odd, but my performances are very much for them. By focusing on them and their enjoyment, I can stop obsessing about my own insecurities or fears.

How have you found booking accommodation this year?

This year accommodation has soared in price – we are using different accommodation this year, as the place we used last year raised their prices by almost 3 times.

What three pieces of advice would you give to first-timers going to the Fringe?

I would say to not just focus on doing lots of spots – it’s fun to do a few spots, but it’s been very helpful to me to watch other shows, including ones that are very different from mine.

What are your plans after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?

I wanted to take 2 weeks off, but it looks like that isn’t happening as I’ve been offered a few gigs I can’t resist! I’ll have at least a few days to relax and cuddle my cat Sponge, whom I will miss terribly while at the Fringe.
