Alex Kitson returns to the Edinburgh Fringe after a successful 2024 run. I have caught up with him to find out about his new show for 2025.
When were you last performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?
I did a show last year! Whether what I did constituted performance is up to the critics.
What was the name of your previous show?
It was called ‘Must I Paint You a Picture?’ The album is out now for a 1p minum payment if anyone wants to listen to it!
How long has your current show been running for?
It’s brand new! I’ve been doing work-in-progress versions of it since January! But its official premiere will be at the Fringe in August.
Do you have any “good luck” rituals you undertake before performing?
Not really. I’ve not needed any since I sacrificed my first born son to the sun god in 2019.
How have you found booking accommodation this year?
An absolute nightmare. Wish I could tell you more but fairly sure it’s illegal and don’t want it to get raided before my final show.
What three pieces of advice would you give to first-timers going to the Fringe?
1. Jakeman’s is the best lozenge.
2. The Pleasance Dome has lots of decent toilets with no queue.
3. Come and see my show.
What are your plans after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?
I don’t really like to think about things like that.
