David Ian-Edinburgh Fringe 2025-Part of July Challenge.

David’s friends “kept telling him he’s mean” which certainly didn’t come across in his interview. However, this could be different in his stand-up show heading to the Edinburgh Fringe this August. I caught up with him to find out more.

What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?

David Ian: Am I Mean?

How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?

This is my third year, you’d have thought I’d have learnt better by now.

How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?

I don’t. There isn’t any way to cope. Just embrace the chaos, hope you survive, and then
fix everything in September. I’m not saying this is good advice, simply what I do. In fact, I
actively think it’s terrible advice.

What sort of shows will you see if you have time?

I love to see random things you owuldn;t see anywhere else – the stuff that’s on in the
basement of a burrito shop or the stuff that you come out and think WTF?! I will also see
a bunch of shows from my friends!

Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so, which has been your favourite so far?

I’ve performed at a lot of Fringes, yeh. I think my favourite is Brighton Fringe, but I’d really
I’d love to get to Adelaide, which I haven’t managed yet.

Any advice to newbies about flyering?

Give out my flyers instead of yours!
No, I guess just suck it up and get on with it. There’s no substitute to flyering, but by god
do I hate it, and I suck at it…

What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?

Well I haven’t got any plans for it yet, my last show got filmed for a tv special so I’ve already done that. I’d really like to take this show to more Fringes, to be honest. Take it to more places afterwards.
