Trish Lyons is bringing her show BUZZ to the Edinburgh Fringe for 2025. I caught up with her before the Edinburgh madness begins.
What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?
BUZZ
How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?
I worked one August in the Assembly Press Room and have been to the Fringe 5 other years and in fact, got married at the Fringe last year, but this is the first year that I am bringing a show to the Fringe. You could say a wedding is a kind of show though.
How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?
As difficult as it is, I won’t drink alcohol during the Fringe. The Fringe is so highly charged in order to keep my emotions regulated and to avoid getting run down I’m going to be a teetotaler.
What sort of shows will see if you have time?
I love clowning, so I’ll be on the lookout for shows by Elf Lyons, Julia Masli, Liz Kingsman, The Umbilical Bros. or Sam Blythe.
Have you performed at any other Fringe’s?
No
Any advice to newbies about flyering?
You should have a pithy and engaging summary of the show and make sure your flyers contain key info (time and place) plus something about the show itself.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?
BUZZ is having its premiere in Edinburgh so it should be well polished after its run and ready for touring. I’d like to take the show to London and the USA. My background is in the visual arts so I’d like to see BUZZ performed in alternative performance spaces like art schools, galleries and museums. I’d also like to shape the text into book form. I’ve got dreams for my baby!
