World’s Greatest Lover a new musical will arrive at the Edinburgh Fringe this August.

What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?
– It’s called World’s Greatest Lover—a fast, funny, and heartfelt new musical where five wildly different guys try to rescue the idea of love itself. There’s music, comedy, a live band, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?
– Broadway International Group is a Fringe veteran, with a history of successful shows like Cookin’, Reel to Real, Sidhartha, Around the World in a Bad Mood, and China Goes Pop. Many of our artists are making their Fringe debuts this year, which makes it an exciting mix of experience and fresh energy.
How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?
– We remind ourselves that no one has it all figured out, and that unexpected moments often make the best memories. We stay flexible, keep our sense of humour intact, and fuel up with Edinburgh’s finest bacon rolls between shows. And yes—we stay hydrated.
What sort of shows will you see if you have time? We’ll be checking out other musicals, of course. We’re always curious to see how people are playing with the form. But we’re also drawn to sharp comedy, bold new writing, physical theatre, and pretty much anything that sounds wildly original or totally bonkers.
Have you performed at any other Fringes? If so, which has been your favourite so far?
Edinburgh has been an important platform for us to launch and discover new shows. NANTA/Cookin’ was featured in several Fringe festivals following its 1999 premiere in Edinburgh, including those in Galway and Seoul, as well as major international arts festivals in Moscow, Bangkok, and Taiwan, among many others. We also arranged performances of MANUAL CINEMA (an Edinburgh favorite!) at the Saudi Arabia Festival, the Taipei Children’s Arts Festival, and the Taikoo Hong Kong Arts Festival.
Any advice to newbies about flyering?
– Be real, quick, and kind. You’ve got a split second to make a connection, so lead with what’s fun, weird, or unique about your show. Don’t take rejection personally—and if someone’s interested, lean into the human conversation, not a hard sell. Oh, and wear comfy shoes. Seriously.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?
– This is just the beginning. We’re developing plans for a West End run, international touring, and Broadway. Edinburgh is the launchpad, and we can’t wait to see where World’s Greatest Lover goes next. Audiences can follow us on socials @wglmusical or check out our website wglmusical.com to follow along with the journey.
