Ten Thousand Hours

 

How many years been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?

We did our First Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 so going on 12 years.

 

How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?

Get comfortable and cosy in your accommodation and make it feel like home. Eat well, drink lots and try to give in to the chaos a bit. There’s a great quote that says “you can either try to tame the beast or ride it”. We think trying to ride the beast is the best strategy. Strap in because it’s a big month and give yourself some recovery time on the other side.

 

What sort of shows will you see if you have time?

We love to check out our mates in the circus and physical theatre genre, but also find that it’s a great opportunity to take some risks and see something you have never experienced before. Keep your ear to the ground to hear about the shows that everyone is talking about because they are always tough to get tickets to if you wait too long.

 

Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so, which has been your favourite so far?

We have done a number of fringes around the world. It’s hard to go past our home city of Adelaide, the second biggest in the world behind Edinburgh. performing to our friends and family is always a treat. Of course Edinburgh is starting to feel like home now so it’s kind of the same thing!

 

Any advice to newbies about flyering?

Give someone a really good reason to even take your flyer, grab their attention without getting in their face. It’s easier said than done but worth taking some time to think of a clever and eye-catching costume or a fun game to play rather than just holding out a flyer. 

 

What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?

We are straight back on the road to Zurich, Switzerland before taking a little break and then heading to Taiwan.
