Britt Migs-Edinburgh Fringe 2025 part of July Challenge.

First-time Edinburgh Fringe performer Britt Migs has been sharing thoughts about the upcoming debut at the 2025 Fringe.

Is your first time at Edinburgh Fringe?

Yes and I’m SO excited!

How long have you been preparing your show for Edinburgh?

For over a year! I technically started writing the show in the spring of 2023 (although I didn’t quite know it yet) but things really got put into motion in the spring of 2024. The show premiered in August of 2024 to a sold out audience at Caveat in New York City. It went on to sell out The Second City Blackbox in November of 2024 as part of the New York Comedy Festival and headlined Knockouts Comedy Festival in March of 2025. Next stop: Fringe!

What is your motivation to perform there?

The Fringe is legendary…a magical, almost mythical place where you can hone your craft, make a name for yourself, make your dreams come true! It’s been a goal of mine to perform there ever since I became aware of it. So many incredible comics that I look up to have taken their shows to the Fringe and I’ve always just looked on in awe, but this time it’s my turn! Plus, a whole village of performers? Living and working and putting on shows together for a month? It’s summer camp for performers. What a dream!

What have you done to prepare for the Edinburgh Fringe, emotionally and physically?

Emotionally: soaking up all of the love and support I can from friends and family before I leave. Preparing myself for the fact that I will likely be exhausted at almost all times. Sometimes doing shows in bars to 4 people so I won’t get my feelings hurt if that happens at Fringe!

Physically: trying to get my step count up and going to bed earlier. It’s harder than it looks! I’m a night owl!

Have you had any advice from other’s who have performed at the Fringe?

Yes, everyone I’ve spoken to says I will have a full mental breakdown by week 3 which I am looking forward to. So is my psychiatrist! But everyone also says it’s the best thing they’ve ever done and I won’t ever regret it. Their advice is to have fun, live in the moment, and try to catch sleep whenever I can!

Have you visited Scotland or Edinburgh before?

Oh yes! My Scottish ancestry dates back to one of the original clans from the Highlands in Northern Scotland. My great-great-grandmother’s maiden name was Macintosh, sometimes spelt Mackintosh. My great-grandmother attended boarding school in Elgin and wandered the beaches of Lossiemouth in the summer. I finally got to visit the homeland in college, when I travelled everywhere from Edinburgh to St. Andrew’s and saw every castle you could tour. I am ecstatic to get in touch with my family’s roots and will hopefully make my ancestors proud in Edinburgh.

How have you found booking accommodation?

Pretty easy! I found a super cute apartment on EdLets.

What plans do you have for your show after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?

The show has been such a journey of growth and grief and is a real-time capsule of the last few years of my life. I would love to lay it to rest properly by filming and selling this baby! If any streamers want an insane divorce + coming out story, hit my line. And hey, it would make a great feature, too…

I’m selling my old engagement ring to help pay for the Fringe. Whatever it takes!!! Plus, it feels like the show has come full circle.
