Get Happy by Joseph Aldous.

Get Happy

Omnibus Theatre

Joseph Aldous’ Get Happy is a sparkling, confetti-cannon, LED lit triumph – part comedy, part crisis, all heart. This one-person show is as emotionally piercing as it is riotously funny, delivering big queer energy with theatrical finesse and real emotional weight.

We meet Adam: almost-30, professionally wobbly, single, and clinging to the kind of chaotic optimism that only a Ke$ha-fuelled crisis playlist can provide. His best friend is moving out, his life is spinning, and everyone around him seems to be… happy. So what’s left to do but chase it too? With the help of his trusty Alexa – anything is possible – with a checklist of course!

Aldous commands the stage with a charisma that’s magnetic. His comedic timing is razor-sharp, and the jokes land with impeccable precision. His physicality and vocal dexterity are astonishing – the way he shifts from one character to another, effortlessly embodying each through posture and voice, is a masterclass in solo performance. You always know exactly who’s speaking – it’s a real tribute to Aldous’ skill.

And then there’s the writing – warm, clever, and properly laugh-out-loud funny, but never at the expense of truth. Get Happy is a show about joy and mess, about what we show the world versus what’s going on behind the glitter. The highlight of the involves theft, and a sentimental hanging plant (yes, really). It’s absurd but nevertheless steals the show with hilarity and poignancy.

This is more than just a hot gay summer spiral – it’s a sparkling show with real soul.
