SKINNY – by Michelle Pearson / House of Oz.
What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?
Skinny
How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?
This will be my 4th Edinburgh Fringe but my first time performing Skinny in Edinburgh.
How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?
I try to look after my mental health and physical health by taking breaks from it all, getting enough sleep, not partying and exercising when I can. I love listening to my music and taking it all in and I think it all comes down to surrounding yourself with good people and good experiences.
What sort of shows will you see if you have time?
I am keen to see shows (cabaret, circus, music, theatre, family, comedy, food shows) that are keen to come to Adelaide Fringe in 2026 as I am also in Edinburgh to look at shows to program for the 2026 Bowden Fringe.
Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so, which has been your favourite so far?
I have performed at the Adelaide Fringe (many times) and also Fringe World in Perth and the Melbourne Fringe. I would have to say that Edinburgh and Adelaide are my favourites. Adelaide is my home base so it is much easier and we have huge audiences but Edinburgh feels really magical and it is such a great experience.
Any advice to newbies about flyering?
I think it is always better to do most of the flyering yourself but it can also be pretty soul-destroying if no one is interested. It’s about finding balance and if you need help I would recommend finding an experienced flyerer to assist. But if you are confident about your work and excited it really helps to get the general public excited.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?
Skinny has been programmed in the Australian Theatre Festival in NYC in September so after Edinburgh we are making our off-broadway debut on 42nd street. And then we are touring all over Australia for the rest of 2025.
