What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?
Hello my name is Jake Brasch and my name is Nadja Leonhard-Hooper and together we are AMERICAN SING-SONG. We write and perform insane, filthy, heart-forward musicals with nothing but a piano, a foley table, and a gay little dream.
The show we are bringing to Edinburgh is called HOLE! It’s a love story set in a post-apocalyptic world where a doomsday cult survives by wearing butt plugs to appease a wrathful god. It’s a raucous, filthy, epic comedic musical with hundreds of characters in it. And the two of us play all of them!
How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?
This is American Sing-Song’s Fringe Debut!
How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?
We plan to run naked up to King Arthur’s seat at least once every day. Other than that, the usual performer tricks: plenty of water, masturbation, and donuts.
What sort of shows will you see if you have time?
Wecan’t wait to see theater from all over the world. We like our theater funny and unsettling. Hoping to see Romanian dancers slap each other.
Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so, which has been your favourite so far?
No! We are virgins! We have only performed at the Fringe of God.
Any advice to newbies about flyering?
To us, there is no difference between flyering and fingering as we have never done either well.
What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe? We will perform this show on Broadway, even if it means tackling the Mamma Mia ushers and hauling our piano onto the stage of the Winter Garden. HOLE! is our second musical. During all of our quiet free time at the Fringe, we intend to finish writing our third, and then hope to perform all three musicals in rep. Produce us?
