Lizzy Sunshine-Edinburgh Fringe-Part of July Challenge.

Lizzy Sunshine took some time out to answer some questions in the run up to her first Edinburgh Fringe.

What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?

Lizzy Sunshine!

How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?

This is my first year doing the Edinburgh Fringe! I am eager, optimistic, and ready to learn. How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings? Luckily, I thrive in chaotic environments. I love festivals – I grew up going to both a statewide AND an international theatre festival in the US each year and love the fast-paced, crazy nature. My plan is to meal prep portable meals, pack LOTS of snacks, and embrace the inevitable meltdowns.

What sort of shows will see if you have time?

I want to see as MUCH AS POSSIBLE! I plan to see my fellow US Gilded Balloon performers (Lily Blumkin and Douglas Widick), some NYC (Britt Miggs and Three Chickens Confront Existence) and UK (Sid Singh) friends. Other than that, I hope to see some WEIRD stuff. Funky, Fringe-y with a capital F.

Have you performed at any other Fringe’s? If so which has been your favourite so far?

First Fringe alert!

Any advice to newbies about flyering?

Clear eyes, full heart, can’t lose. JK idk…hit me up @lizcoin on IG if you hear anything.

What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?

After Fringe I plan to take my show’s momentum on the road with a US tour to Chicago, North & South Carolina, Virginia, and LA. I’d love to keep performing internationally as I develop the show’s concept into a series.

Please feel free to add anything you would like to as well. You know your show better than anyone.

My friend Tim Murray helped me in the early days of developing “Lizzy Sunshine.” His show “Witches” won Pick of the Fringe and Best Musical Theatre Show from Entertainment Now! He really inspired me to take the leap and go for Fringe. A little delusion gets you a long way. After the first few performances of this piece I boldly told everyone “I’m taking this to Edinburgh Fringe!” I’m not one to hold my horses, so here we are. In guts we trust.

So, why should you come and see Lizzy Sunshine?

If you’ve ever felt like you need to be the sunshine, to “keep it positive,” or fake it til you make it – you’re in good company. I created this high-energy character, Lizzy Sunshine, to represent the parts of us that ensure the “show goes on.” In this comedy hour, Lizzy must carry a double act ALONE after discovering her show partner is running late! You’re in for feel-good AND thought-provoking. If you like characters, audience participation, big feelings, and surprise gifts – you’ve found your new favourite farce.
