Susan Harrison-Edinburgh Fringe 2025-Part of July Challenge.

Showstopper regular performer Susan Harrison returns to Edinburgh Fringe this year flying solo in her new show “Should I Still Be Doing This”.

When were you last performing at the Edinburgh Fringe?

I performed at the fringe last year with Showstopper! The Improvised Musical. I’ve been in Edinburgh most years with Showstopper, and I’m REALLY excited to be there with my new solo character comedy show this year. I’ve loved making this show and being in Edinburgh and performing it for a month means you can really hone it. There is some fun interaction and several improvised moments in my solo show too, which keep it fresh for me and the audience. Can’t wait!

What was the name of your previous show?

My last solo show was called Susan Harrison is a Bit Weepy and was a multiple character show about a break up. This year’s show is also a multiple character show. It’s quite alternative, it’s full of weird and wonderful characters and is about getting older while still living a creative life. it’s called Susan Harrison: Should I Still Be Doing This? Hopefully I’ll be able to answer this question by the end of the month!

How long has your current show been running for?

It’s a brand new solo show. I’ve done work in progress versions of it in London, Bristol, Glasgow and Wales. I’ve been finding out what works with people all over the UK, so hopefully now it’s ready for the discerning Edinburgh Fringe-going audiences.

Do you have any “good luck” rituals you undertake before performing?

Not really. Although I do brush my teeth before every show. You never know who you’ll end up interacting with in the middle of a performance, so you gotta be fresh!

How have you found booking accommodation this year?

I am staying with Showstopper (who I’m also performing with) for some of the time and when I’m not with them I’ll be staying with friends out of town. I don’t know how anyone could manage if they didn’t have these kinds of options.

What three pieces of advice would you give to first-timers going to the Fringe?

1 – Go to Mosque Kitchen if you want some tasty affordable food. 2 – Put some gaps in your schedule in between seeing shows, as it can get a bit knackering. You don’t want to spend money on a show only to accidentally sleep through a Fringe First winner! 3 – Take a chance on some alternative, character comedy at The Gilded Balloon. I know just the thing…

What are you plans after the Edinburgh Fringe is over?

Sleeeeeeeeeep! For a thousand years.
