Gigglemug Theatre Company-Edinburgh Fringe-Part of The July Challenge.

After their huge success at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe. Gigglemug Theatre returns with A Jaffa Cake Musical for 2025. I have caught up with them ahead of the chaos that takes over at the Fringe.

What’s your show called for Edinburgh Fringe 2025?

A Jaffa Cake Musical at Pleasance Courtyard.

What is the show about?

A Jaffa Cake Musical is a family-friendly comedy musical inspired by the real life 1991 tribunal
which saw McVitie’s face off against the Tax Man to prove that a Jaffa Cake is a cake rather than
a biscuit!

Has the show been to the Fringe before?

The show premiered at last year’s Edinburgh Fringe and sold out its entire run at Pleasance
Courtyard which is why we’re bringing it back in a bigger venue this year!

How long have you been doing the Edinburgh Fringe?

Our first Edinburgh Fringe was 7 years ago with our debut show Timpson: The Musical, and this
year will be our 4th Fringe as a company!

How do you cope with the overwhelming chaos that the Fringe brings?

By making the most of the quiet journeys in and out of the city everyday!

What sort of shows will see if you have time?

Stars of A Jaffa Cake Musical, Alex Prescot and Katie Pritchard, are also both performing in their
solo shows this year so we will definitely catch them in action!

Any advice to newbies about flyering?

My top tip is to just get rid of your first flyer of the day, hand it out to whoever! After that it
becomes so much easier.

What are your plans for the show after the Edinburgh Fringe?

This is our final ever run of the show so no plans beyond the Fringe, which means if you want to see it this is your only chance, along with our previews in Bath at the end of July!
