Three ladies from the USA have currently dropped their show BOMBSHELL onto the Brighton Fringe at the Rotunda venue. Fresh from the stage of the run-down cabaret club, Club Fistfight. Their final performance at the club before it closes permanently proves to be life changing for Scarlett in more than one way.

Writer Madison Mayer (Aila Swan) also takes on the role of the lead protagonist Scarlett.  The independent lead chorus girl who also owns Club Fistfight and is subtlety worn down by her boyfriend whose not who it appears to be.

The other two charasmatic and talented cast members are composer and showgirl Jane played by Aila Swan and director Emory Kemph in the role of Eliza. They both double up as Scarlett’s boyfriend Tony during the performance.

Putting a mirror up to society around the rhetoric “we” are fed by the media daily about the damage done by climate change, the three club performers sing about the small changes and sacrifices we can make, while all the time the large corporations like big oil companies pump more into our seas and atmosphere. Our changes make a small difference but for a bigger impact tackling the money-making companies who do the most damage needs to be tackled.

Scarlett starts a relationship with one of the club’s customers, who is a walking red flag. She’s fallen in love and despite her reservations allows him to write new shows for her act. The manipulative lying Tony leads her into a place she never considered entering putting her life and freedom in jeopardy.

The cautionary messages are delivered with charm and humour and their words are hard-hitting at times.  A talented trio whose onstage rapport and timings are superb.

BOMBSHELL is clever, thought-provoking, and well-delivered throughout the sixty minute performance.
