Murder She Didn’t Write.

Murder She Didn’t Write wasn’t written by anyone; instead, the entire show is created by suggestions from the audience. Produced by Wildpark Entertainment and co-produced by Eleanor Llyod Productions and Fiery Dragons. The show has been successfully running at the Edinburgh Fringe for the past ten years and now has a huge following every year.

Tonight’s suggested events to be considered were “Swingers Party”, “Dungeons and Dragons”, “Opening of the Houses of Parliament”, and a “CHEESE TASTING” event. It was decided that the event was to be a CHEESE TASTING event in a large country estate.

Lizzy Skrzypiec leads the evening’s entertainment in the role of Detective Agatha Crusty with the help of her sidekick “Jerkins,” whose identity will only be revealed at the beginning of the performance and will be hiding somewhere in the auditorium.

The scene is set. Letitia Gold (Rachel Procter-Lane) plays host to the CHEESE TASTING event and loves cheese. She is eager to try the latest creation, which has the secret ingredient of “chicken’s milk”

Douglas Walkers role is the character who creates the new cheese. He has an incredible collection from A to Z of animals that he milks to make his collection of cheeses from, although as a cheese lover, I am in no rush to try Alpaca or Dog milk variety. I think I am going to stick with the tried and trusted cheese varieties.

Full of improvised witty one-liners, a few mistakes which other characters picked up on and corrected with quick-witted replies offer a night of comedy and a fast-paced murder waiting to be solved. The cast of six brought a different aspect to the performance with plenty of surprises and some red herrings along the way.

The one thing about improvisation productions is that you can see them as often as you like, as every performance will be different and will have a new theme, motive, victim and murderer. Which means from a reviewer’s perspective, there are no spoilers to divulge. It’s a show well worth catching while on tour, it’s an entertaining, funny and improvised 120 minutes of Theatre.
