Guys and Dolls an immersive musical theatre performance began its stage life in March 2023 in the Bridge Theatre, London. Now embarking on a slight cast change, the show is now continuing to run until January 4th 2025.

Gina Beck takes over the role of Sarah Brown the leader in the Save-A-Soul Mission and “forbidden” love interest of Sky Masterson (George Ioannides). Beck has a strong stage presence and the rapport between the characters Sky and Sarah remains a strong relationship with no obvious signs that they haven’t been working together for long.

The second cast change is Arvide Abernathy who is now performed by Michael Simkins both Beck and Simkins are giving their debut performances in Nicholas Hytner’s Guys and Dolls neither actor faltered and gave impressive performances in the established production which boasts a tight-knit strong cast throughout the show.

Choreographers Arlene Phillips and James Cousins continue to create an intriguing and fascinating range of dance routines. My favourite is the Adelaide and the Hot Box Girls performing Take Back Your Mink.

Adelaide (Timmika Ramsay) remains a classy and strong character who certainly deserves to be treated with more respect than Nathan Detroit (Owain Arthur) offers her.

The set and costumes designed by Bunny Christie and Deborah Andrews were just as impressive the second time around. The organisation in the standing area to move the audience to the correct locations around the moving stage platforms is an impressive sight. I couldn’t stand for nearly three hours though, it would be a completely different experience to watching from the seated area.

Guys and Dolls remains one of the most fascinating and enjoyable semi immersive theatre productions I have seen. Bright lights, catchy musical numbers, and a choice of two theatre audience experiences, seated or standing, the show has a lot to offer theatregoers, and I highly recommend it.
