Benny Shakes has returned to Edinburgh Fringe 2024 with his debut solo comedy show RESPECT where he discusses living with Cerebral Palsy. He hosted another show with Blue Badge Bunch, which is a really good family interactive entertainment show.
There’s many hurdles physical and emotional that Benny has overcome during his life. Now he has found his niche in comedy and performing. While raising the profile of performers with disabilities. He wouldn’t say no to a job on the television if anyone has anything going.
Some of his comedy acts and topics are unique to Benny and very dark in places. Although that’s the only thing I am willing to divulge. Benny also enlightens the audience about the luxuries that can be found in certain disabled toilets, I certainly had no idea about those.

The honesty and humour cannot fail to endear the audience to Benny, he has faced many challenges in life and turns some of these into comedy and funny stories. It feels uncomfortable initially (because of a preprogrammed internal dialogue not to be unkind) laughing at a disabled comedian. However, you soon realise that you are all laughing together as Benny puts everyone at ease.
Benny has spent much of the Edinburgh Fringe sharing the RESPECT and offering help and advice to many other people performing across the Fringe and supporting other acts in the same venue as him, Bar 50.
