When Liz Truss took over as Prime Minister, Nerinne Skinner’s parody of Truss went viral on YouTube in August 2022 and since then has had over four million views and gathered a large following. She was born to play the role, you only have to look at Skinner to see the remarkable resemblance.

There was life for the comedian before the Truss parody took off. Skinner’s career has consisted of acting, singing, working on a cruise ship and was one half of the successful female comedy duo Franks and Skinner. Later this year will be performing in Pantomime.

Skinner brings a range of other characters into the show who have various parts in trying to help her attempt to exorcise Truss from her life altogether. The Exorcism is set out step by step and a small amount of audience participation is required. However, without Truss would there be a show to continue with and is Skinner ready to let her go?

Despite being a parody about a Politician it only skirts around the funny side of Truss’s Political leadership and the absurd engagements that she took part in. Looking back now they seem even more ludicrous on the stage. Every time Skinner thinks that Truss is finished she pops up again with more “comedy gold” the gift that keeps on giving.

Performing her show in the Caves at Just the Tonic isn’t the luxurious surroundings that Truss would expect in the House of Parliament which she used to frequent. Skinner’s final performance was played to a full house, a great finish to end her run with.
