Comedian Mark Bittlestone affectionately refers to himself as “a little gay boy” Well that’s how he is known in the industry. Enters the stage wearing a sparkly and bedazzling football shirt, it is very eye-catching and I wonder how much work went into it.
The hour-long show is Bittlestone talking about being gay, and how he came out and overcame the loneliness of coming out. He engages with the audience throughout the show and as expected the majority of his audience are gay and can relate to much of the topics he talks about in his show.
Turning his attention to the only straight male in the audience he found himself explaining what “top or bottom” meant. The guy in question looked rather embarrassed and slightly awkward. However, it’s a comedy show and comedians love a reaction in the auditorium.
The most entertaining story is about his unintentional “outing” of his innocent Dad due to Bittlestone”s Internet search history. What teenager doesn’t try to cover their tracks when cornered, let’s face it parents get blamed for quite a lot of their children’s behaviour!
If you were ever curious about conversations that take place on Grindr then this is the show for you as it offers a cross-section of interactions that Bittlestone has had over the years with other users on the app and from the audience’s responses to some of the conversations that they have had similar experiences.
Bittlestone is likeable and charming and hopefully, his search for I Need a Straight Guy is successful.
