For fans of the popular television comedy series The Inbetweeners catching one on the four main characters doing live is great. Joe Thomas: Rule Breaker offers an insight into his everyday life and touches on the video diary the cast were asked to make during the filming of The Inbetweeners , which he completely missed the concept of what they were asked to do.
Thomas doesn’t initially appear comfortable starting the stand-up show. As he reads the room and relaxes the audience relaxes and the comedy warms up nicely.
The comedy is safe and mainly anecdotal. Thomas is very similar to his famous character Simon and isn’t about to shock you with anything outrageous. It’s doesn’t appear to be his style. However, his laid back approach to life saw him missing two flights to America for an acting job and third time lucky involved a detour!
One thing that Thomas establishes is his lack of ability to say “no” which left him being explored by a ‘friend” who unbeknown to Thomas was using his fame to get Tinder dates. What an ingenious idea to get dates. It wasn’t Thomas who first clicked on the fact he was being used.
For all the fans of the Channel Four sitcom Friday Night Dinner this is a quick reminder that Thomas “definitely wasn’t in it” but is happy to do voice clips from the show for the right price for anyone who would like one. Business is Business after all. For any of The Inbetweeners fans you will not be disappointed.
