The Half-Cocked Sketch Show is presented and written by Elliott Campion and Teddy Robson who offer a range of madcap comedy Sketches at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Mr. Twain opens the show with the famous song by Shania Twain That Don’t Impress Me Much and moulds the lyrics into holding a job interview and it’s safe to say it doesn’t end well.
My favourite scene is the two gangsters discussing the correct use of pronouns and descending into a storyline that you’re not expecting but I defy you not to laugh as they look as surprised at the conversation as the audience are.
That “list” gets a mention, props have gone missing, quick costume changes and a couple of “cardboard sign” acts that are glaringly obvious when you work them out, it’s always good to make the audience think for themselves as it keeps them engaged.
There’s a good series of comedy sketches and you are never quite sure which direction they will take next which is the beauty of sketch comedy. If there’s a particular scene that isn’t to your taste then don’t worry there will soon be another one that might be.
Campion and Robson have a close working relationship and rapport on stage that is essential when delivering a comedy sketch show as timing is everything to ensure the show doesn’t lose the pace that they set. I am looking forward to seeing what they do next.
