Bucket Lists are generally made up of a list of things to do before you die. What happens if death beats you to it and all you are left with is the list? Bucket List offers a two-handed play where young couple Luke and Jess meet at a party, start seeing each other and begin to make plans for their bright and promising future together.
The play shifts between the past and present building up the relationship between them and then working out the issues that build up into the cracks of their relationships. Jess is the grown-up half of the pair and right up until Luke’s funeral she never falters in her responsibility or upsets the families.
As an audience, you become invested in their life and love for one another. They gave a natural and organic energy between the pair. Complimenting one another onstage and working effortlessly with the various scene changes.
Although there’s only a cague outside chance in this play that it’s “sort” of going to work out for the couple. Part of me was still hoping for what could have been a different happy-ever-after ending for Luke and Jess.
